So Here's the deal.  I hear everyday about how somebody just got a virus on their computer.  They tell me "I have a virus.  My computer won't do this or that, and it keeps taking me to gay porn sites.  Oh No I have a virus".  Well, I know I'll catch a lot of crap for this, but to basically sum it up viruses are almost non-existant.  You don't have one, trust me.  So why does you computer run like it has a squishy turd in it?

Well that's because there are millions of people out there that are tring their very hardest to squeeze every dollar they possibly can out of the internet.  So they make programs that attach themselfs to your computer, and force feed you crap.  Adware, Spyware, it's all just junk that clogs up your computer.  You could run all this anti-virus software till the end of time and I'll garuntee you that it won't help a bit.  If you want a smooth running computer here is what you do...

First:    Elininate the culprit!
Never ever use Internet Explorer.  It's the devil.  It basicly welcomes any crap that want to get into your computer.  If you insist on using Internet Explorer, please drag your mouse to the top right of this window and click the red X.  However, if you want a computer that runs good get Firefox.  Firefox is a web browser just like IE, except that it is very secure, has more features, and makes life a lot eaiser.  It will even transfer all of your favorite places from IE to Firefox.  So go to www.mozilla.com and download the latest version.  After you have installed it, never ever, ever, ever use Internet Explorer again.  You are now 2000% safer then you were before.  On to the next step...

Second:   Eliminate the problem!
Allright, now that we have IE out of the way we can work on clearing up the real problem.  What you need to do is get rid of all the adware and spyware that has forced it's way onto your computer.  The most effective way of doing this, from what I have found, is to run two programs.  Ad-Aware & Spybot S&D.  Download these and install them.
Ad-Aware:  Ok once you have this installed, run the program.  When the window pops up click "Check for updates now".  Then click connect, it will likely find updates and ask if you want to install them, click yes.  After the updates are all installed it will take you back to the main screen, click start.  Make sure the smart system scan is checked, then click next.....it starts.  About 5 minutes later it will tell you that it is done and give you a list of all the problems that it found.  Make sure that all the items in the list are check marked....then click next.  It will ask if you want to remove all of the selected items, click yes.
Spybot S&D: Ok, now for spybot.  Run the program the same way you ran Ad-Aware.  Click search for updates and install all of the available updates.  Then click the "Search and Dystroy" button in the upper left hand corner.  Click "Check for Problems" and it will start.  When it is done it will also give you a list of problems, check mark all of them and then click "Fix selected Problems".  Then your done.
RUN BOTH OF THESE PROGRAMS ONCE PER MONTH.

Third:   Eliminate the mess!
Allmost finished here.  The last step is to tidy up your computers files.  Through normal use your files get cluttered up, placed here then there, pieces are strewn all through out your system.  So go to the start menu, click "All Programs", then "Accesories",  then "System Tools".  Your gonna need to run two things from this menu. Fist run Disk Cleanup.  When it pops up click all of the check boxes and hit OK.  It might take a minute or two but it will eventually finish.  Next run Disk Defragmenter.  Hit "defragment" and let it go.  It will take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to complete, just let it go.  When it is done, close the program.  Run these two things at least once per month.

And that's all it takes to keeping your computer in top notch condition.  You don't need Norton, or Macafee, or any other anti-virus software.  All that will do is complicate your system and make it work harder.  Kepp it simple, keep it clean, and you'll be all good.
